A selection of Bible readings and daily devotions.

The 12 minor prophets (so called because of their length, not the importance of their content) are collected as one unified scroll in the Hebrew Bible. These 12 writings cover about 450 years and speak before, during, and after the exile of both kingdoms for being unfaithful to God and refusing to repent and live his ways. We’ll spend time looking at 5 of them from each period of time to see not just a historical unity, but a theological one, and how faithfulness and listening to the Lord are the key to living under his loving rule and care today, as much as back then.

From Hannah to Samuel to Saul to David, 1 Samuel provides us with some of the most famous Biblical characters and stories. Through each of the characters, we see how flawed humans like ourselves can still be used by God to achieve His purposes. And, it also provides great contrast between Saul, a king like all the nations have, to David a king after God’s own heart, all the while, helping us look forward to the king we have come to know in Jesus.

Get ready for a wonderfully down-to-earth few weeks in this remarkably small but powerful book as we explore what a well-rounded, complete faith looks like. This reading plan complements our Bible Talk from the book of James.
