Read Isaiah 55:10-13
Sometimes, despite our very best efforts, life just feels so mundane. Our daily routines feel repetitive. Our bible reading feels monotonous. Do you find yourself wondering if it’s worth opening the bible each morning? With a cloudy mind and distracted thoughts, will the bible teach me anything “new” today?
Isaiah 55 speaks a gloriously refreshing promise – God’s word can never fail to bring about its intended fruit, despite our often dry and disinterested hearts.
- Do you ever feel that the bible’s words are falling on dead ears (either ours or those around us)? What does God promise about his word and its ability to accomplish his purpose? See 11-13.
- What things make it difficult for you to orient your heart to treasure God’s word? How does Isaiah 55 encourage you? See 1-7.
- We see a greater fulfilment of this promise in Jesus, the Word of God himself, sent to accomplish our salvation. How does Isaiah 55 increase your confidence in God’s saving work on the cross?
As you read the Word today, be encouraged that God has more grace for you than you can comprehend. Pray that his words sink deep into your mind to bring about life in all fullness and fruitfulness.
Draw near to God, he will draw near to you (James 4:8).
